Dominik Wagner

Composer Dominik Wagner (born 1986), originally from Laufenburg-Luttingen, studied jazz trumpet, composition, and wind band conducting at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts. As a conductor and composer, he is primarily active in the world of wind instruments, and his pieces are performed worldwide.

 

Among other works, he has written for the ensemble "Blechsach" (winners of the SWR4 Brass Band Competition) and has conducted world premieres with the Stuttgart District Orchestra, the BVBW Youth Music Camp, Brass Band B10, and others. His work "Cogwheels & Steam" has been selected compulsory piece at the St. Gallen music festival in Switzerland.  His work "Early Bird Overture" won second prize at the 1st International Composition Contest of the Mantzaros Philharmonic Society in Corfu, Greece.

 

He is the resident conductor of the Stetten/Filder and Salach Music Associations. He also conducts the Filder Wind Symphony, a project orchestra he founded, and the Olpe District Youth Wind Orchestra. Since 2025, he has also been active as a juror for the Baden-Württemberg Brass Band Association (BVBW) and musical director of the D-level courses in the Stuttgart-Filder district.

 

He teaches trumpet, conducting, and composition at the Süßen Music School, as well as privately. As a lecturer and workshop leader, he gives presentations on various topics, including at the International Wind Band Congress in Neu-Ulm, the akustika trade fair in Nuremberg, and for various associations and clubs.

 

As a trumpeter, Dominik Wagner has been active in various ensembles, including the Baden-Württemberg State Jazz Orchestra and the "Dominik Wagner Quartet," with which he released his album "Virtual Green" in 2010. Concert tours have taken him to a wide variety of countries and stages.
