ELLA IN THE INSTRUMENT FOREST
A live radio play for wind orchestra (Grade 2) and speaker
by Dominik Wagner with illustrations by Phyllis Traub

Ella in the instrument forest
Join Ella and Gustavo on their journey through the forest of instruments.
In a world filled with noise, Ella searches for what her older neighbors call "music" and meets old Gustavo, who shows her the wonderful world of wind instruments. Unfortunately, the goblins have sabotaged all the instruments. Can Ella and Gustavo make them sing again?
This approximately 60-minute live radio play is a wonderful way to recruit young musicians and was specifically designed to introduce various instruments. As the audience journeys through the instrument forest, all instrument groups are presented in a fairytale-like manner and musically brought to life. The stylistic diversity of wind band literature is also showcased, from catchy fanfares and symphonic passages to Latin-American rhythms, funky beats, marches, and body percussion – there's something for everyone! All of this is presented at a moderate difficulty level (Grade 2), making it perfectly suited for youth bands.
The performance format is free and flexible, ranging from a classic reading to a staged presentation – anything is possible! The individual songs can also be performed separately. Lovingly designed illustrations by Phyllis Traub can also be used as projections during the performance.
You can also purchase Ella's story as a children's book here (sales start soon!).
